Skilled Maintenance Contractor (6 months)
Dartmouth Town Council is seeking one or two skilled maintenance contractors to support us with a variety of tasks across Council-owned assets over the next six months.
What you’ll be doing:
- General repairs and maintenance across Council-owned property and assets
- Basic carpentry, painting and decorating
- Basic plumbing (including maintenance of public toilet facilities)
- Clearing drains and guttering
- Repairing and maintaining benches, fences, railings and similar structures
- Responding to ad hoc maintenance needs across the estate
- Engaging politely and professionally with tenants, members of the public, and Council staff
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a maintenance or construction-related role
- Strong practical skills with a “can-do” approach
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Own vehicle for travel between sites
- Own public liability insurance (minimum £5 million cover)
- Own tools and equipment (Council tools may occasionally be available for specific tasks)
- Commitment to safe working practices at all times
- Proof of qualifications may be requested where relevant

- Start date: As soon as possible
- Flexible working hours to be agreed
