FIVER FEST RETURNS TO DARTMOUTH IN OCTOBER
Town Council Supports Popular Promotional Fortnight
28th September Dartmouth: Dartmouth Town Council will be supporting the Towns second Fiver Fest which will run from 10th-24th October. The first event in February was a huge success with over 50 local businesses taking part and many more home based businesses displaying their wares at the town’s first Fiver Fest Community Market.
The premise being Fiver Fest is simple if every adult in in Dartmouth spent £5 a week in local businesses that would equate to £1.1million going back into our local economy. Businesses that sign up to the scheme have to come up with one £5 offer to showcase what they have to offer and attract local people back to their town centre. Residents get a bargain and hopefully a reminder of all the unique and original businesses on their doorstep.
The February event showcased breath-taking array of £5 offers and proved incredibly popular throughout the town. Offers ranged from a full English breakfast to T- Shirts, doggie nail clips and marble heart paperweights all for just £5.
Commenting on Dartmouth Town Councils support for Fiver Fest Cllr Cathy Campos said “After a very hard year for our town it is more important than ever for us all to shop locally wherever we can. This Fiver Fest is a great excuse for everyone living here to re discover the diversity, quality and originality of Dartmouth’s town centre. The Council is keen to do whatever it can to help repair the town’s economy so we will coordinate Octobers Fiver Fest and supply printed materials as we did in February”. Local businesses found the February Fiver Fest did boost trade and interest, Rosemary Back of the Leather Shop in Fairfax Place said “Fiver Fest certainly increased footfall and sales during a usually quiet month. In fact we sold out of two offers during that fortnight! It was great to see so many locals coming into our shop and they have been back since. We will certainly be taking part again this October.”
Townspeople should expect a breath-taking array of £5 offers and be prepared to come into the town and support this exciting campaign by spending a fiver (or several!)
