Festive spirit, alongside the essential mulled wine and mince pies welcomed visitors to the Guildhall Open Day on Thursday 13 December.
We had a steady stream of visitors, many of whom had never been inside the building and they were shown around by councillors and staff to see our impressive Council Chamber, Mayors Parlour, Clifton Room, and our fabulous Ballroom. Everything has been decorated and carefully restored from the superb oak panelling in our chamber to new staging and stairs in our Ballroom.
All of our rooms are available to hire and the team here at Dartmouth Town Council were delighted with the turnout, particularly after all of their hard work getting everything ready for visitors. There was even a very cute four legged guest who was very pleased to look around and have a dog biscuit from Councillor Gent! We hope the Open Day inspires people from the area to consider the Guildhall as a venue when planning an event. Just this week we have had a beautiful Christmas themed wedding held here and you can be sure whatever the occasion, we will help to make it a memorable one.
In addition to making the venue more accessible to the general public, our Town Clerk has some Councillor Café events planned for January and February for anyone who may be interested in becoming a councillor. These ‘café’s’ will be run to inform exactly what the position entails, and how it can be very rewarding working with a great team and in our lovely town. More details on this will be published across our website and social media platforms. We would love to see anyone who may like to find out more.
If anyone could not make our Open Day, and would like to have a look around the Guildhall, our staff would be delighted to do so, just give us a call.
